NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts the JEE Main exam every year two times, most commonly in January and April months. The number of attempts has been a topic of discussion for many years. In the past, there were no limits on the number of attempts.

However, in 2017, the government introduced a new rule limiting the number of attempts to three times in consecutive years. This rule has been in place since then. After all, this applies to both the sessions of JEE Main.

What is Three-attempt Rule in JEE Main?

The three-attempt rule means a candidate can only appear for the JEE Main exam three times in three consecutive years. For example, if a candidate appeared for the JEE Main exam in 2022, they can appear for the exam in 2023 and 2024 but not in 2025

How Many Attempts in JEE Mains 2024?

If the number of attempts for JEE Main exams in 2024 is limited to three times in three consecutive years. The three-attempt rule applies to all categories of candidates, including General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD. Exceptions to the three-attempt rule include candidates who appeared for the JEE Main exam in 2021 or earlier and candidates who qualify for the JEE Advanced exam.
