 Eligibility Criteria JEE Mains 2025

The academic session 2022-23 is close to wrapping up. Meanwhile, the aspiring candidates for JEE Main 2025 have already started to prepare for the next session. Also, enrolling in new batches also started. But, before everything, students must be aware of JEE Mains eligibility criteria 2025.

However, the eligibility criteria don’t change every year, but as you enter this year, it gets important for you to know about it. By knowing about JEE Mains 2025 eligibility criteria, you can make sure that you are fully eligible to appear in the upcoming exam JEE 2025. So, let’s get started after a brief on JEE Main.

About JEE Exam

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is an entrance exam for the top IIT colleges in India. The exam body NTA conducts this exam yearly in two parts; JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Every year, lakhs of students appear in the exam and reach their destination of getting into IITs.

The first section of the JEE is the JEE Mains. Students preparing for JEE must crack it first to be eligible for JEE Advanced. As you know, the JEE Mains is conducted twice a year. Likewise, NTA is going to conduct JEE Main in 2024. Let’s have a brief discussion of JEE Main 2025.

Like every year, in 2023, JEE Main will be conducted in two attempts and JEE Advanced in one attempt. Students who are pursuing or passing the 12th class appear in JEE Main. However, not all students pursuing the 12th class can appear for this exam; students who want to appear for this exam must meet NTA-debted criteria. Here the question comes: What will be the Eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2025?

Eligibility Criteria JEE Mains 2025

First, let you know that NTA has yet to announce the eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2025. Usually, the NTA issues the eligibility criteria with the official notification of JEE Main. As of now, we are so far from any official announcement regarding JEE Main 2025.

That’s why, being one of the best IIT JEE coachings in Sikar, we are here with tentative eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2025. This is not an officially released criterion; we are assuming all the factors in it according to all the past years’ standards.

Age Limit for JEE Mains 2025(Expected)

Hopefully, there will be no age limit for JEE Mains 2025, as there is usually no age criterion for JEE Main exams. Candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2024 and 2025 or are appearing in 2025, irrespective of their age, can appear in the JEE Main 2025 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) for which they are desirous of admission.

Educational Qualification For JEE Mains 2025 (Expected)

The final examination of the 10+2 system is conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.

  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A diploma is recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least three years.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
  • Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2022 and 2023 or those who are appearing in the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2024 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2025.
  • Candidates who passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021 or before, as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2025 or later, are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2025.

State of Eligibility

State code of eligibility means the code of the State from where the Candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination by virtue of which the Candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2025. It is important to note that the State code of eligibility does NOT depend upon the native place or the place of residence of the Candidate. For example, if a candidate appears for the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination from an Institution situated in New Delhi and is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, then the Candidate’s State code of eligibility will be that of Delhi and NOT that of Uttar Pradesh.

If a candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination from one State but appeared for improvement from another State, the Candidate’s State code of eligibility will be from where the Candidate first passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination and NOT the State from where the Candidate has appeared for improvement.

A candidate who passed/is appearing for Class 12 from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the State in which the study Centre is located.

For Indian nationals passing the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from Nepal/Bhutan, the State code of eligibility will be determined based on the candidate’s permanent address in India as given in their passport.

The State code of eligibility for OCI passing the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination in India is at par with Indian nationals. However, OCI passing the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from an institution abroad are eligible for Other State quota seats or All India quota seats (but NOT for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IIITs and Other-CFTIs.
