NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is considered one of the toughest exams of all other Examinations. A candidate is required to take the NEET exam in order to pursue his/her studies in the top medical colleges in India. Each year, Lakhs of students take the NEET Exam, and the seats are allotted to the qualifying candidates as per their NEET score. The seat-allocating Authority conducts several rounds of counselling, and after that, the seat-allocating Authority conducts the Stray Vacancy Round. What is Stray Vacancy Round In Neet UG?

In NEET UG, after a mop-up round of MCC or state counselling, the “stray vacancies” round deals with unfilled seats after all the counselling rounds of NEET UG. All these vacant seats are filled through the Stray Vacancy Round. 

The Stray Vacancy Round for NEET UG was introduced in 2021 to properly manage and fill the seats across the nation. The majority of the states or certain types of colleges with NRI or management quota seats experience stray vacancy rounds. All colleges that have open seats after the mop-up round are given the order from the Authority to hold a stray vacancy round in order to fill these available seats. 

Let you know the candidates who have already applied for the counselling are eligible for Stray Vacancy in NEET UG. No new applications are accepted for this round. Apart from this, the following are the eligibility for the NEET UG Stray Vacancy Round. 

Eligibility for Stray Vacancy Round in NEET UG.

Candidates falling in these categories are eligible to Participate in the Stray Vacancy Round Of Central/Deemed University.

1. If you are listed on the merit list of NEET UG by MCC, you can only apply for NEET UG Stray Vacancy. 

2. If you do not hold a seat in NEET UG All India Quota or State Quota, you are eligible for the Stray Vacancy round of NEET UG.

4. If you have participated in any counselling round of NEET UG, you are eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round. 

5. Candidates who didn’t get into any college through prior counselling rounds are eligible for the Stray round. And if you have college already, you can’t go for the Stray round. 

6. Neither can you do new registration for this round nor separate choice feeling for this round. Choices that you made in prior rounds will be considered for the stray vacancy round.

Candidates for this round of counselling at Deemed Universities, AIIMS and Central Universities or under the All India Quota are also eligible if they were not offered a seat in any of the previous three rounds of counselling.

Process To Participate in Stray Vacancy Round

To participate in each college’s stray vacancy round, you must specifically visit each campus and fill out their individual application form.

You must obtain information separately for each college participating in this round.

Most colleges allow participation registration, which you can do yourself on their website.

Random job rounds typically take place every three to two days. Therefore, be sure to have everything prepared, including all necessary documents, and to already decide which state college you want to apply to, as you must physically visit those institutions to be considered for admission.

Participate in only those colleges’ stray Vacancy rounds of which you fulfil the criteria. As The counselling in the stray vacancy round is different from the counselling of Usual Counselling.
