Eligibility: The NMC shocked the nation with its latest guidelines regarding the eligibility criteria for NEET 2024. As we all know, the NMC used to allow PCMB students to apply for NEET even though they do follow mathematics along with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. However, the latest notification from NMC changes the entire dynamic of the NEET Exam. Now, the commission teasing that any 12th-pass candidate of any stream (non-Biology) can apply and appear for NEET without any restrictions. However, the final decision from the High Court was issued on November 22, 2023, regarding allowing non-biology students to be eligible for NEET 2024. So, it’s confirmed that the NMC changed the eligibility criteria for NEET 2024, students from different streams other than PCB can opt for Biology as an extra subject and apply for NEET exam in future.
Age Limit: This year, the NMC stated that the age limit for NEET 2024 was revised. According to the New guidelines from NMC, a candidate must meet the lower age requirement of 17 years without exception. So, the candidate must turn 17 by December 31st, 2023. There is no upper age limit to apply for NEET 2024.
Registration Fee: The NMC made it clear that the registration fee will be higher in 2024 for the NEET Exam in the Exam Calendar Notification. We can see that the NMC raised 100rs for online registration for every category. So, NEET 2024 online registration costs 100 more compared to NEET 2023. The category-wise Application fee for NEET 2024 is; 1700 for General, 1600 for EWS, 1000 for other category candidates, and 9500 for applicants outside India.
Syllabus: Syllabus change is another sudden yet surprising NMC New Guidelines for NEET UG 2024. The NMC released a circular regarding the reduced syllabus for NEET 2024 a few weeks back. According to the new syllabus guidelines from NMC, the total number of chapters was reduced from 97 to 79 from all the subjects combined.
