What is Free Exit in NEET UG Counselling?
Basically, it is a process of exiting the first round of NEET UG counselling and participating in the second round without losing the fee deposited in the first round.
Let’s understand Free Exit in simple words. Often it happens when candidates apply in the first round of NEET UG counselling, and then don’t want to complete it, even after they deposited their fees, whatever the reasons are. After that, they plan to free-exit from the first round and participate in the second round of NEET UG counselling. But, at the same time, they don’t want to lose their deposited fees in the first round. They just want to participate in the second round of NEET UG counselling, and their first-round fee gets adjusted in the second round. This process is called Free Exit in NEET UG counselling.
The thing that you have to remember is you can get a Free Exit only after the first round of NEET UG counselling. There is no option for free exit in the second or third round of NEET UG counselling, according to the MCC-released FAQs related to NEET UG 2023 counselling.
So, if you are in the second round, you must report at the allotted college; it doesn’t matter if you apply for the mop-up round. Otherwise, the college deducts or forfeits your fees.
How to Get Free Exit in NEET UG Counselling?
The easiest way to get a free exit in NEET UG counselling is to not report and join the college you opted for. If you do it, your application from the college will be withdrawn automatically.
After completing the first round, you will be able to apply to the second round of NEET UG counselling. And as we talked about earlier, you will not be payable for any penalty in fees, your complete fees will be adjustable for the second round allotted college.
But, remember one thing: this method of getting free exit from the NEET UG counselling only applies in the first round of NEET UG counselling. Apart from the free exit, you can choose from the following options if you want to take a chance in the second round of counselling.
- You can resign from the allotted college in the first round and then apply in the second round.
- You can join the allotted college and submit your willingness to participate in the second round. Once you get to your desired college in the second round, you can resign to the prior college.
