All the Steps in SSB Interview

The SSB (Services Selection Board) interview lasts for five days and assesses the candidate's eligibility for officer training in the Indian Army. This comprehensive study is organized into two distinct parts: Part I and Part II.

Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test

Step 1

This test consists of two sections: Verbal Reasoning and Nonverbal Reasoning. The verbal reasoning section assesses a person’s logical thinking and problem-solving abilities through language. Meanwhile, the nonverbal reasoning section assesses a person’s ability to visualize and solve problems through shapes and diagrams.

Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT)

Step 2

This test assesses candidates’ creativity, expressive skills and social skills. Candidates look at a blurred image for 30 seconds and have to create an inspired story. After that, they have 4 minutes to interact with their fellow candidates and collectively make a statement.

Psychological Tests

These tests are designed to assess a candidate's personality, intelligence, and leadership potential. They include:

1. Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks

Step 4

These tasks are designed to assess a candidate's leadership potential, initiative, and ability to work in a team. They include:

Step 5

The purpose of the interview carried out by the officers' college is to assess the candidate's suitability for officer training. This includes investigating the candidate's background, motivation and career aspirations.
