We all know how important the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is for medical aspirants. However, this test is a highly competitive entrance exam in India for admission to undergraduate medical courses. Hence, the perfect planning and execution of NEET are crucial each and every year. Well, NEET has a very long history in terms of exam implementation.
Will NMC Replace NTA for Conducting NEET UG?
Until 2019, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was responsible for the NEET exam execution. However, the tables turned after 2019, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) entered the scene by taking the responsibility of conducting the NEET test.
Now, the NEET exam is again suffering from undertaking issues as there has been a lot of speculation and debate over the internet about NMC taking charge of conducting NEET. Will the National Medical Commission (NMC) conduct the NEET-UG exam in 2023 instead of the NTA? Take a dive into this article to explore the reasons why the NMC may or may not conduct the NEET-UG exam in 2023.
Will NMC Conduct NEET UG 2023?
A few days ago, a proposal released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) shook medical students to the core. However, the NMC released a draft comprising new regulations for the undergraduate medical education board in 2023. Besides, the NMC released this draft in the public domain for comments. This proposal confused students and educational institutions about whether NMC Will Conduct NEET UG Exam.
Well, we all know that the National Testing Agency already released the NTA exam calendar back in December 2022, which clearly comprises the exam date for NEET 2023. But now, the draft from NMC came up with regulations from the undergraduate medical education board (MBBS) discussing multiple factors like the conduct of the NEET exam and its counselling, the rules related to the syllabus, the aspects of admission, counselling, and migration, the minimum standards of medical education, faculty development, etc.
Besides, the draft didn’t give any clarity in terms of the agency that will conduct the NEET test in 2023. So, what’s now? Will NMC replace NTA for NEET 2023? Is NEET UG Exam by NMC going to happen?
Well, the answer is probably no, because everything about NEET UG 2023 is already fixed, and online applications are to start shortly. So for this year, it is next to impossible for the government to hand over the NEET to NMC. Maybe, the government can think about it next year.
Is it Possible NMC will Conduct NEET in 2024?
As we see how the NMC is showing its interest in conducting the NEET. Earlier also in 2019, the government changed the exam board of NEET from CBSE to NTA. So chances are there that the education department take a bet on it and give it a chance to NMC to conduct NEET in 2024. Well, it’s a matter of probability. We can’t take any state of in until there is any official news.
Major Drawbacks of National Medical Commission (NMC) Conducting the NEET exam
Here are some reasons why NMC (National Medical Commision) should not conduct NEET Exams.
Lack of experience:
Both CBSE and NTA have better experience in conducting NEET rather than NMC. However, the NTA is legit in conducting large-scale entrance exams like the NEET-UG exam, JEE Main, and JEE Advanced. Hence, conducting NEET 2023 is a piece of cake for NTA compared to the NMC.
Besides, executing a nationwide competitive exam like NEET requires a lot of planning, infrastructure, and resources. As NMC has never conducted such an exam before, the agency may not have the necessary experience to conduct NEET 2023. After all, a lack of experience could lead to logistical challenges and delays in the exam schedule.
Legal challenges:
The NEET-UG exam has faced several legal challenges other than any other competitive exam in history. However, conducting the NEET exam requires adherence to various legal and regulatory requirements. This will revert back to a lack of experience for the NMC in such matters. Unlike the NTA or CBSE, the NMC may not have the necessary expertise and resources to handle legal challenges.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the decision to conduct the NEET-UG exam in 2023 lies in the hands of the National Medical Commission (NMC). While there are some benefits of conducting the exam and some challenges and complexions included in this process of NMC overtaking the NEET 2023.
After all, the NMC will examine and evaluate these factors before making any decision regarding NEET 2023. Ultimately, we aim to wait until the official statement but be ready for any challenge. For any further updates, stay tuned with Prince Blogs and follow us on Twitter.
